KM Panel dashboard for managing Minecraft servers

KM Panel was built for one of the larger Minecraft server networks in Poland. The premise: every aspect of running the network’s servers had to be possible from a browser, by several administrators at the same time.

Features

  • Multi-tenancy: each administrator manages the server assigned to them.
  • Real-time game server console.
  • Backup system with one-click restores.
  • Direct access to server.properties without logging in over SSH.
  • Plugin installation and management straight from the panel.
  • Ban list with real-time search.
  • Per-user earnings statistics together with a commission system.
  • Premium service management and a history of SMS messages sent.
  • Online player chart across every server in the network.
  • Administrator action logs and a panel-wide action history for the whole network.
  • Ticketing system with email notifications on new replies.

Stack

  • HTML5, jQuery, CSS, JS, Bootstrap
  • PHP with the Net_SSH2 library

The takeaway

The most valuable element turned out to be the administrator action log. With a dozen or so people holding production access, being able to reconstruct who did what and when solves more problems than any single convenience feature.
